The Monarch San Antonio A Legacy of Service and Sophistication

The Monarch San Antonio, part of the Curio Collection by Hilton, is a 200-room, 17-story boutique hotel located in the Hemisfair District of downtown San Antonio. It is set to open in early 2026 and is inspired by the Monarch butterfly that migrates through the region each winter. The hotel will feature a full-service spa, a terrace pool, and five food and beverage concepts, including a rooftop restaurant and bar.

Position Overview

The Lead Bartender is responsible for creating, implementing, and overseeing the cocktail program for all bars throughout the property. This role ensures consistency, creativity, and elevated execution of beverage offerings while supporting luxury service standards. The Lead Bartender plays a key leadership role in training, mentoring, and developing bartenders and supporting both cocktail and wine programs across the hotel.


What Youll Do

Cocktail Program Development

  • Create and maintain signature cocktail menus for all bars across the property.
  • Develop standardized recipes, build specifications, and presentation guidelines.
  • Ensure consistency and quality in cocktail execution across all outlets.
  • Collaborate with Food and Beverage leadership on seasonal updates and beverage innovation.
  • Wine Program Support
  • Support the execution and maintenance of the property-wide wine program.
  • Uphold wine service standards, glassware usage, and presentation guidelines.
  • Assist with bartender training related to wine knowledge and service techniques.
  • Partner with leadership on wine program updates and quality control.

Training & Development

  • Train all new bartenders on cocktail standards, recipes, and service expectations.
  • Conduct ongoing training sessions focused on technique, speed, consistency, and presentation.
  • Serve as a mentor and technical resource for bartenders across the property.
  • Support onboarding and professional development for bar teams.

Operational Support

  • Support daily bar operations to ensure service excellence.
  • Maintain proper setup, organization, and cleanliness of bar areas.
  • Assist with inventory controls, par levels, and product handling.
  • Ensure adherence to responsible alcohol service standards.

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with all alcohol service laws, health regulations, and hotel policies.
  • Follow safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards at all times.
  • Maintain flexibility to support operational needs including evenings, weekends, and holidays.


What Youll Bring

Required Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 35 years of bartending experience required, preferably in a luxury or high-volume environment.

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated expertise in cocktail creation, execution, and presentation.
  • Strong training, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Working knowledge of wine service and wine fundamentals.
  • Ability to maintain consistency and quality across multiple outlets.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Licenses or Certificates

  • Food and Alcohol Service Certifications required.
