<strong>Description<br><br></strong>Project Kuiper is Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite broadband network. As a Sr. PCBA Manufacturing Engineer, you will work across design engineering, supply-chain, quality, and our manufacturing partners to drive Project Kuiper electrical sub-system and PCBA manufacturing and delivery.<br><br>You must have the ability to dive deep on the details to identify, understand and solve difficult technical problems and also utilize a system level approach to prioritize issues for whole program. You use data to drive manufacturability, reliability, and quality objectives in design and development teams.<br><br>Key job responsibilities<br><br><ul><li> Work with the Design Engineering team to provide PCB/PCBA DFM feedback. Identify and escalate PCBA manufacturing challenges early in product development.</li><li> Drive the PCBA Manufacturing Qualification process at the CM. Define manufacturing readiness requirements and lead key milestone reviews to ensure all production readiness deliverables are complete.</li><li> Investigate and develop new manufacturing technology and methodologies to enhance PCBA quality, reliability, throughput, and cost.</li><li> Drive closure of all operational issues during pre-production builds. Work within Operations, Supply Chain, R&D, and Reliability Engineering to implement and optimize manufacturing processes and improve yields for production ramp.</li><li> Investigate failures/defects in production, test, and integration. Identify and mitigate underlying root causes to prevent reoccurrence as part of continuous improvement efforts.</li><li> Identify opportunities for risk reduction and simplification of PCBA manufacturing processes.</li><li> Deliver manufacturing processes capabilities including equipment capability, quality controls, materials characterization, and standardized rework practices.</li><li> Actively monitor the success of products and processes through production ramp. Provide regular status reports of PCBAs progress from design to production.</li><li> Deploy and qualify polymerics (staking, underfill, and conformal coat) equipment for high volume production.<br><br></li></ul><strong>About The Team<br><br></strong>The Design and Manufacturing Engineering team develops, designs, and delivers all electrical sub-systems and PCBA designs for the Kuiper satellite avionic systems, communication systems, ground stations, and customer terminals. This is an inclusive, inter-disciplinary team that is committed to performance, quality, & reliability. Your breadth of exposure will be immense as you collaborate with other core groups, guiding the hardware from design to production and operation.<br><br><strong>Basic Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li> Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing/Mechanical/Aerospace/Industrial/Electrical) or related discipline, or equivalent experience.</li><li> 3+ years of experience in PCBA/PCB production/processes and manufacturing engineering.</li><li> Experience in board assembly processes and equipment: Stencil, paste print, SPI, pick & place, SMT reflow, AOI, 5DX, selective solder, flying probe, and wash.</li><li> Experience leading DFX reviews for manufacturability, testability, quality, and reliability.</li><li> Experience working independently and ensuring timely and accurate communication with contract manufacturers, suppliers, and 3rd party test and failure analysis partners.</li><li> Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, enthusiasm for the team’s spirit of innovation and mission of improving manufacturability, quality, and reliability in cutting-edge technology.</li><li> Strong writing skills.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Preferred Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li> Master’s Degree in Engineering (Manufacturing/Mechanical/Aerospace/Industrial/Electrical) or related discipline, or equivalent experience.</li><li> 5+ years of experience in PCBA/PCB supply chain, manufacturing or engineering.</li><li> 3+ years’ experience with industry standard PLM and DFX systems, Mentor/Valor preferred.</li><li> Experience performing Design and Process Failure Modes and Effects Analyses.</li><li> Experience with IPC-A-610H Class 3, IPC J-STD-001H compliance</li><li> Experience in Polymeric application, including conformal coating, staking and underfill.</li><li> Experience in solder alloys including leaded and lead free as well as next gen low temp alloys.</li><li> Experience with flying probe test systems and DFT</li><li> Knowledge of quality tools such as Lean principles, Six Sigma, root cause analysis and corrective action, advanced product quality planning (APQP), metrology, process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA), control plans, and various problem-solving approaches.</li><li> Experience providing hands-on experimental design and execution (Statistical analysis and DOE).<br><br></li></ul>Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.<br><br>Los Angeles County applicants: Job duties for this position include: work safely and cooperatively with other employees, supervisors, and staff; adhere to standards of excellence despite stressful conditions; communicate effectively and respectfully with employees, supervisors, and staff to ensure exceptional customer service; and follow all federal, state, and local laws and Company policies. The base pay for this position ranges from $105,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market.
