Warehouse Assistant - Food Bank

POSITION SUMMARY

Under general supervision, the incumbent performs a variety of shipping/receiving, inventory control, and stocking activities. Delivers and unloads food items, materials, and supplies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Receives, unloads, inspects, unpacks, stores and maintains various supplies, equipment, materials and food products in proper storage areas.
  • Picks/pulls product for orders.
  • Verifies for accuracy invoices/billing, shipping documents/packing slips.
  • Packs, loads, ships, and supplies equipment, materials and food products.
  • Notes discrepancies between recorded inventory and actual count.
  • Maintains all areas of the warehouse in a clean and neat manner, meeting environmental health standards.
  • Lifts and moves heavy objects and equipment weighing up to 85 pounds manually or with the aid of lifting devices.
  • Maintains files and logs.
  • Participates in periodic and annual physical inventories of warehouse stock.
  • Retrieves and posts data to an automated or manual inventory record system.
  • Operates material handling equipment such as forklift or pallet jack.
  • Conducts other duties as assigned.

  • Conduct inventories using First In/First Out system in an automated and/or manual inventory record system.

  • Proficiently operate standard office equipment, including computer hardware and software applications associated with performance of assigned work (i.e., MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, MS Outlook, and Internet Explorer).

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school graduation or equivalent.
  • Minimum of six (6) months of recent paid warehousing experience.
  • Must possess a current forklift operator certification.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

Position requires intermittent sitting, standing, walking, twisting, and bending. Simple grasping and hand manipulation, as well as, reaching above and below shoulder level. Must be able to lift boxes weighing up to 85 pounds. Requires working indoors in temperature-controlled environment with some exposure to copies and printer chemicals and/or fumes.

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
