Job DescriptionThe Sr. Microsoft 365 Engineer plays a vital role in maintaining the stability, scalability, and security of the Microsoft 365 (M365) environment, which supports collaboration, communication, and productivity for 10,000 users. This position is closely aligned with the organization's strategic goals of advancing digital transformation, strengthening cybersecurity, and enhancing operational efficiency. The role requires advanced technical proficiency combined with significant consultative engagement, collaborating extensively with end users, business groups, security professionals, and senior leadership to promote adoption, ensure secure and streamlined use, and optimize the value derived from Microsoft 365 services.What You'll Do Provide strategic guidance on Microsoft 365 adoption, governance, and best practices to improve collaboration, increase productivity, manage risk & compliance and enhance security.Remain informed about the latest developments in the Microsoft roadmap, proactively suggest improvements for emerging Microsoft 365 features and technologies, and offer strategic recommendations to support enterprise adoption.Provide new technology/feature overviews to IT and Enterprise leadership at varied leadership levels for deployment.Serve as a trusted advisor to business units and IT leadership on Microsoft 365 capabilities and best practices.Consult across the organization to understand technology needs and deploy tools & solutions to support communication, collaboration and productivity.Assess current usage and configurations and recommend improvements or new solutions aligned with organizational goals.Support change management efforts by advising on training strategies, communication plans, and user adoption techniques.Lead change management efforts to resolve incidents and to perform root cause analysis for service disruptions and performance bottlenecks.Build collaborative relationships with the broader architecture community to effectively maintain technical roadmaps and provide input into strategies and standards related to area of specialization.Create and oversee a comprehensive strategic roadmap for the adoption, integration, and lifecycle management of Microsoft 365 services.Collaborate with security and compliance teams to ensure regulatory and organizational standards are enforced.Develop training materials and conduct workshops to promote user adoption and elevate best practices to users on M365 tools and features.Lead technical consultations and design reviews with internal teams and external partners.Translate technical capabilities into business value for non-technical stakeholders.Provide one-on-one and group consultations to help users leverage all available Microsoft 365 tools and services effectively and efficiently.Document and maintain runbooks for patterns, consulting guides, architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.Develop, maintain, and optimize advanced PowerShell scripts leveraging PnP PowerShell and Microsoft Graph API to automate Microsoft 365 administration and governance tasks.Monitor service health, usage analytics, and conduct licensing utilization audits in coordination with financial and capacity planning initiatives to optimize resource use.Manage and maintain Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive, Purview, Defender, Copilot and other related workloads and services.Provide Tier 3 support and act as an escalation point for complex Microsoft 365 issues.Govern Exchange Online mail flow, security (EOP/Defender for O365), and mail hygiene (DKIM/DMARC/SPF), with compliant retention and eDiscovery practices.Define SharePoint/OneDrive information architecture, site/OneDrive lifecycle, external/B2B access, and automated provisioning using PnP and Graph.Establish Teams governance (templates, labels, expiration), external collaboration/shared channels, QoS for realtime media and ownership of Teams Phone architecture.Partner with Enterprise Security to advise on Purview classifications, sensitivity/retention labels, DLP, records management, and eDiscovery;
