<div><h2>Overview</h2> <p>Women\'s Services (OB/GYN) - RN Registered Nurse 7a-7p</p> <p><b>Job Title:</b> Registered Nurse Department: Women’s Services</p> <p><b>Reports to:</b> Director of Women’s Services</p> <p><b>Revision Date:</b> 04/25/2025</p> <p><b>Status:</b> Non Exempt</p> <h2>Job Summary</h2> <p>Under the general direction of the Clinical Nurse Director or their designee, in accordance with the objectives, policies, and procedures of the nursing department and established professional standards, provides total nursing care to patients of all ages appropriate to unit. Effectively interacts with patients, healthcare members, while maintaining standards of professional nursing. Cross trains for charge in two units of OGN service.</p> <h2>Duties/Responsibilities</h2> <ul> <li>Plans, provides, and evaluates patient care as a member of the health care team, strictly adhering to principles of asepsis and infection control guidelines when performing patient care.</li> <li>Assesses individual patient learning needs, and institutes teaching methods in preparation for discharge.</li> <li>Regularly assesses nursing care, identifies potential problems, develops nursing interventions, and directs implementation of nursing interventions to all health care team members.</li> <li>Delegates staff assignments and responsibilities effectively; Assumes responsibility for leadership position within department; identifies and appropriately uses chain of command to resolve unit, staff, and patient problems.</li> <li>Transcribes correctly and implements physician orders per policy and procedure.</li> <li>Accurately records all pertinent information on the patient’s medical record, according to policy and procedure.</li> <li>Identifies and correlates abnormal diagnostic data with patient status; reports and records appropriately.</li> <li>Uses computer programs, including Order Entry, per policy and procedure as assigned.</li> <li>Prepares and administers medications via all acceptable routes, including appropriate documentation with knowledge of all medications administered in accordance with policies, procedures, and standards of care.</li> <li>Properly identifies patients with allergies; documents the presence of reaction or absence of known allergies per policy and procedure.</li> <li>Maintains proper level of stock and emergency supplies as unit requires.</li> <li>Regularly checks equipment and emergency crash cart per unit-specific policy.</li> <li>Correctly identifies reactions to drugs; records and reports reactions appropriately.</li> <li>Routinely provides for patient safety through preventive measures (i.e. siderails, restraints as per physician order, low bed position and safe transport to other areas).</li> <li>Records all pertinent information on the patient’s medical records, according to policy and procedure in a clear, accurate and concise manner.</li> <li>Identifies and correlates abnormal diagnostic data with patient status, report, and record appropriately.</li> <li>Correctly identifies patient by name and ID band for all direct care, procedures, and treatments.</li> <li>Communicates respectfully with patients and promptly responds to patient needs or requests.</li> <li>Maintain confidentiality in all patient, hospital, and physician-related information; demonstrate complete discretion when discussing patient information.</li> <li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li> </ul> <h2>Required Skills/Abilities (Unit Specific)</h2> <ul> <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as active listening skills.</li> <li>Ability to create superior patient experiences while generating positive guest relations in an office setting is required.</li> <li>Ability to work effectively and communicate effectively in a team environment; continuously looking for solutions to improve patient care.</li> <li>Professionalism appropriate for working with guests, physicians, employees and volunteers.</li> <li>Education and Experience: <ul> <li>Diploma from an accredited school of nursing. Current licensure in NYS. Current certification in CPR, Completion of IV Therapy, Pharmacology, Neonatal Resuscitation, CARE/EFM and CBE Courses within first year of employment. One year Medical/Surgical experience preferred. Unit specific orientation to all areas of Women’s Services including Labor Room, Nursery, and Post-Partum.</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <h2>Working Conditions</h2> <ul> <li>Requires frequent walking, standing, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling beds, wheelchairs and recliners in excess of approximately 200 pounds with assistance. Requires lifting, carrying, repositioning, and transferring patients using proper body mechanics.</li> <li>Position requires attendance, as scheduled, to ensure requirements are met.</li> <li>Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, and infectious/hazardous materials.</li> <li>Occasionally requires assembling, operating, checking, and maintaining equipment.</li> <li>Requires attending meetings as well as participation on committees as required.</li> <li>Actively participates in in-service programs, in Quality Assurance programs and CQI, cross-training; attends all mandatory classes as required; completes unit-specific competencies.</li> <li>Occasionally requires assignments to other units/shifts as hospital needs require.</li> <li>Complies with DOH requirements for annual health assessments and required immunizations.</li> <li>Maintain ACLS certification.</li> </ul> <p>Pay Range: $34.00-$43.45/hour</p> <p>Employee salary is based on commensurate experience and other qualifications.</p> <h2>About Oswego Health</h2> <p>The mission of Oswego Health is to provide accessible, quality care and improve the health of residents throughout Oswego County.
