The Marketing Strategy team drives consumer demand (revenue, attendance, occupancy) for the Walt Disney World Resort. The team achieves these goals by developing business and communication strategies and partnering with cross-discipline teams to create marketing initiatives that drive consumer behavior. The team also oversees the management of plans to ensure each initiative or program is maximized across a range of tactics.

What You Will Do

As a Digital Marketing and Social Media Manager for Disney Sports & Water Parks, you will discover, develop and distribute content across all social platforms. An ideal candidate has knowledge of our businesses and insight into how to connect with various communities to drive engagement and demand to achieve business goals. You will lead the thinking on our approach to engaging our established communities, bring mastery of creating optimized assets, and be responsible for composing comprehensive plans and reporting, while collaborating across multiple partners.

The Digital Marketing & Social Media Manager will report to the Senior Manager - Marketing Strategy.

Responsibilities

Social Media Strategy & Optimization

  • Integrate with Sports & Water Parks Marketing Strategy teams to provide social perspective and ideation for annual planning processes (ICPs, etc.)
  • Drive awareness, engagement, and reach across Sports (runDisney) & Water Parks social media accounts with a combined audience of ~2M
  • Own content calendar, creating compelling organic content and capturing as needed
  • Work with internal and external agency partners and vendors as needed on content development and capture
  • Develop and manage strategy across social platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, YouTube, and Threads
  • Develop best practice guidance for content capture enabling 3rd party and partners
  • Support runDisney race weekend Event Management team to provide assets supporting race expo, start/finish, and participant alerts as needed
  • Manage budget through AOP planning inputs and monthly forecast updates

Social Analytics and Reporting

  • Develop and own team goals and performance metrics

  • Monitor performance regularly to understand effectiveness of strategy and content

  • Collaborate with consumer insight partners for social listening to integrate into after action reviews and identify audience unmet needs as potential areas for growth

Communication & Collaboration

  • Subject Matter Expert for Sports & Water Parks businesses - consistently and proactively articulate social media best practices, trends, and insights to teams across the org

  • Proactively identify opportunities to leverage digital and social media to achieve business goals

  • Advise marketing teams and stakeholders in vetting, managing, and executing influencer marketing initiatives on social platforms to drive acquisition or related business goals

  • Partner with Customer Engagement on paid social support – provide optimal organic social posts for “boosting”

  • Partner with Business Development on fulfilling sponsor and charity commitments

  • Collaborate with Public Relations/Public Affairs/Synergy for any partner activations with digital marketing angles for the Disney Sports and Water Parks Brands and identify amplification opportunities (ex. Disney Parks Blog)

  • Foster and build excellent working relationships with key internal stakeholders in Business Development, Operations and across Centers of Excellence

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of social media experience in media, entertainment, or tourism

  • Impactful communication skills in written form, including creative writing skills

  • Experience using analytics tools to identify trends, communicate insights, and provide recommendations

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Google Suite, Adobe Photoshop, and project management tools as well as experience with social media content management systems

  • Creative, proactive and independent thinking with extreme attention to detail and the ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines

  • Knowledge of the Walt Disney Company and Walt Disney World, including in-depth knowledge of Disney IP

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous brand voice and account management leadership

  • Portfolio of work showcasing high impact social media work

  • Proven results building a social following across a variety of channels

  • Experience leading external agencies/vendors without oversight

  • Video production knowledge

  • Passionate and knowledgeable about active lifestyles including running industry

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or equivalent
