To achieve this mission, HPARD is seeking a Laborer (Seasonal) to join its Greenspace Maintenance team.The potential candidate will play a key role in the following duties:Maintain park grounds by picking up litter, debris, de-weeding flowerbeds, and watering trees.Perform basic cleaning of park facilities, some custodial duties, and monitor supplies in restrooms.May operate small lawn and garden power tools such as backpack blowers, string trimmers, and stick edgers.Maintain the Nature Center exhibits, clean fish tanks, and snake cages.Report any problems or hazardous conditions that will prevent a safe environment to the public.Perform additional assignments as required.Candidates will be responsible for their own safety shoes.WORKING CONDITIONSThere are routine exposures to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness, and unpleasant air conditions. The position may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions.EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTSVery fundamental levels of ability to read, write, and follow simple oral instructions as might normally be acquired through up to 8 years of formal schooling.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSNo experience is required.LICENSE REQUIREMENTSMay require a valid Texas Class C driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).Applicants who can work Day, Evening, Night, Weekend, and Holiday shifts.
