Caregiver/Personal Assistant

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Personal Assistant to provide support in daily living activities for individuals requiring assistance. This role is essential in enhancing the quality of life for our clients, particularly those with specific needs such as dementia care and memory care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of resident rights and HIPAA regulations while being able to perform various tasks to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.

Duties

  • Assist clients with daily living activities, including personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication reminders.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the well-being of clients.
  • Implement care plans tailored to individual needs, particularly focusing on dementia and memory care.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and safety of the living environment by performing light housekeeping duties.
  • Lift and assist clients as needed while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding client information in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Advocate for resident rights and ensure that clients are treated with dignity and respect.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, including nurses, to monitor client health and report any changes.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in long-term care or as a personal assistant is preferred.
  • Knowledge of dementia care practices and memory care techniques is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations and a commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.
  • Ability to lift clients safely and assist them with mobility as required.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with clients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • A compassionate demeanor with a genuine desire to help others.
  • Basic cooking skills to prepare nutritious meals for clients.
  • Certification or training in caregiving or nursing is a plus but not mandatory.
